Brothers.......

I love this picture! I am just glad it turned out b/c I was using Brian's nice camera which is high tech for me! :) I took this picture b/c they were matching in their tiger outfits :) And yes, I am going to be that mom who matches my boys clothes! I am already obsessed with these cute fall longalls from this magazine that I want for them! And no, I do not have coordinating outfits for each day! I think they are pretty cute in my opinion :)

Happy Father's Day!!

Happy Father's Day to the absolute BEST dad to 2 very special boys! We had a pretty uneventful day since it was our first weekend at home! We did get together with my family to eat watermelon and homemade peach ice cream!
Anyway, Brian I can't thank you enough again for being the biggest helper and best dad ever! You are such a blessing and our boys are very lucky to have a role model like you! We love you so much!!! We always look forward to the weekends so we get you for 2 whole days! :) Thank you babe...I love you very much.

My Boys.....

I now officially feel like a mom, wife, housewife, etc. around here. Yes I was a mom to just Luke, but now it's like I say things plural like; the boys dressed, the boys laundry, the boys fed....it's funny, and just a different life now. Maybe some of my friends who have more than one might can understand me more :) We are adjusting over here. Luke is being great with Samuel even though we still have to catch a flying toy every once in awhile :) Samuel eats every 2 to 3 hours during the day and 3 to 4 at night. I have tried to get on a good night time schedule but that has not worked just yet! I stay crazy busy though ALL day! We have been so blessed with neighbors and friends who have brought us dinner the past couple of weeks. The meals stop this week and I am wondering how in the world I am going to cook now! One more thing to figure out and juggle in our day to day life. Thank goodness Brian is an excellent cook and likes to cook! There are many nights we would have starved if it weren't for him :)
Sam is a very different baby than Luke. I kind of think he is more high maintenance. He HATES being swaddled, but it's the only way to make him quiet down and go to sleep. He has to be put to sleep too. He isn't your typical newborn that eats and you put him right back down to go to sleep so that has been a little tricky. I mean this kid has some lungs on him! He is still nursing great which is such a wonderful thing to me, but I am not going to lie, it is very sweet, but at the same time it gets old b/c I feel like that is all I do all day! Luke is OBSESSED with this one Elmo video I got him, and it has helped while feeding Sam, but oh my gosh I am so tired of it! We have gotten out and walked a few times and both boys love that. We have been to church the past 2 weeks and it has been great to be back! It was more important to me for Luke to be back in the nursery as well just to get out and play with other kids. He is great in there now and goes straight to the workers! I mean it's important to us period that we get back to church and in the swing of things. We go to Target and get out and it's nice for me and Luke. It's funny though trying to get somewhere with 2 and on time. I was suppose to meet my dad for lunch last week at noon, then I texted him I would be there at 12:15, and we got there around 12:30ish :) Oh life with 2 boys. I love it and it's going to be getting more fun week by week as they both grow up before my eyes! I LOVE being a mom! It's the best job in the whole world! I thank God for giving me my dream of being a wife to an incredible husband, and now a mom to 2 little handsome prince's :)

Life with Samuel and two boys......

Whew! Well we (I) survived the first week at home with this new little bundle of joy and my sweet all boy 18 month old! The first couple of days were busy, crazy, sometimes, and well actually fun. I am loving this mom thing even more now that I have these 2 precious baby boys! Am I ready to have a third one? Yea I think not...I actually think im cool with my 2 boys and being the Princess of the house :)
Samuel is a sweet baby. It has been fun and crazy to figure out a whole new baby and trying not to compare him to Luke. I am exclusively nursing and I am loving every minute of it. It is somewhat challenging though getting up at weird hours of the night and waking up in the morning to figure out, hey I have an 18 month old that doesn't sleep 12 hours of the day! If Sam could nurse all day, HE WOULD. He loves to suck on anything! He is a big pacifier baby and has been from day one in the hospital, and he will suck his thumb as well which is really cute. He has blue eyes, yes you read that right, which is so crazy to us! I know they can change though in a few weeks, but Luke was born with big brown eyes. I told someone the other day that it was a good thing Luke and Sam look like us b.c one has blond hair and now the new one has blue eyes! He hates when we try to swaddle him, but then loves being all wrapped up to sleep. He is eating every 3 to 4 hours at night and every 2 to 3 hours in the day. Luke is actually being really sweet with him and always wants to hold him. He holds his arms out to hold the baby and I tell him to go sit on the couch and you can, so he runs to the couch and sits down and holds his hands out and says baby :) It is really sweet. Don't get me wrong though, I have to play defense all day which makes it a little more interesting! Luke is all boy and likes to throw things. The other day when I was feeding Sam, I blocked a ball and a car with my hand...quick like a cat around here :) Sam is sleeping in our room still in his swing. He likes to be moving just like Luke did! He is not a great fan of the car, but I think it's his carseat he doesn't like! Today he screamed the whole way home and Luke held his finger up to his mouth and said SHHHHH!!!! Then one time he pointed at the baby and yelled "bauble" (bottle), so I basically Luke was like for the love stop crying baby! It was cracking me up.
Anyway, I am having a lot of tired fun right now! I can't wait to watch these boys grow up together and be best friends!! I love being a mom so much and thank God for my boys everyday!

Happy Birthday Samuel Barrett!!!

Samuel was born June 7, 2011 at 10:47 am. He was 7 lbs 6 ozs and 20 inches long! We are all doing great except for the fact that Sam is actually in the NICU. He is doing just great and it's really just a precaution. His white blood cell count was up causing a little infection so they wanted to just watch him. It has been a big bummer b/c anybody who comes to visit us in the hospital can't see him, only me and Brian. He is doing great though and I am very thankful for that! He is a beautiful little baby! He has a ton of dark hair and hazel eyes. I think he looks just like Brian! He does favor Luke, but is his own little person! I just love him so much!
So as far as my labor went, it was pretty easy! Now don't get me wrong, contractions, having the epidural, and being nauseous the whole time was NOT fun! We got to the hospital at 5 am and they brought us to our room which is huge by the way! I love this hospital b/c it is so nice. I have a city view from our room :) Anyway, I was dilated 3 cm when we got here and went from 3 to 8 cm in one hour! For those of you who don't know what the heck that means, it means that is crazy fast and every pregnant girl dreams of that :) I went from 8 to 10 and ready to push another hour later! I was so ready to push that the nurse could already see Sam's head! So I pushed like 6 times and he was out. It was an awesome, fast labor! I guess that is what I will always remember about this pregnancy and labor, and forget about all the horrible stuff! Anyway, everything went great and that was such a blessing.
We are finally tired though. I have been really worn out today. I think from all the emotions of last night and leaving Sam and just going back and forth to the NICU has drained me. I wanted to say thank you to Kelly for being the friend who I needed at the right time last night! Would not have known what to do without her! :)
SO, that is our story....welcome to the world Sam! We love you so much!
